Blech... They must have something in the kitchen that magically sucks the flavor out of all the food. Everything is absolutely bland. First impression... Well... I'll start out by saying that this restaurant is in the same building that Casa De Barfo (formerly the WORST Mexican restaurant in town) occupied for the last several years. Susie's wants to capture a "Southwestern" vibe, but still have some silly tropical mural painted on one of the walls. I guess a can of paint wasn't in the budget when they remodeled. An opposite wall has a picture of a Native American hanging on it. It's like... WTF, bro! Senior citizens abound! I couldn't tell if I had gone there on bingo night or what. It was around 6:30 pm so definitely past "early bird special" hours. I had expected most of this clientele to be in bed already. Ok, I'm not hating on seniors. It just had that whole "Breakfast Nook on a Sunday morning" vibe to it. Ok, so I ordered something comparable to my "usual" at Nosworthy's Hall of Fame. Basically a Cheeseburger with spicy pepperjack cheese, Ortega green Chili's, and Jalapenos. Let's just say the similar burger at Nosworthy's is FAR superior. This burger at Susie's was somehow not spicy at all in spite of the ingredients. On top of that, the meat itself was completely flavorless. The onion rings, which I forked out an additional dollar to substitute, were flavorless as well. A huge disappointment. Service was slow, but the gentleman who served me was friendly. Not returning. Unless this place goes out of business and they put yet another abomination of a restaurant in it's place.

Home cooking indeed! Fantastic food, fantastic service. I had the chicken fried steak and pancakes. YUM!

The open-faced hot roast beef sandwich is just what you would expect - good & filling. It was the special of the day and a good choice for eating something different on the road. The mash potatoes were the real deal, they had a few lumps to prove that they did not come out of a box. (I would have been real disappointed to be served anything else in Idaho!!!). My wife ordered the "Cowboy", which was some type of a Mexican platter. It looked like Mexican food but did not have any kick to it. She liked the taste and the plate of food was much more than she could eat.

My husband and I ate at Susie's Home Kitchen this evening. We both ordered from the Southwestern section of the menu. I had a chili relleno and pork chimichunga and my husband had the chili relleno and shredded beef taco. The seasoning used in the cooking was tasteful and flavorful. My husband thought the beef taco was great! The staff was also was helpful.

I always love this place. The food comes out piping hot & fresh. We always get the same server & he remembers us everytime. He is terrific at meeting our dining needs without being to invasive. We come every two weeks & love the great home cooked meal & family atmosphere.

My husband and I have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is plentiful, warm, and fresh. We go mostly for breakfast and love the many choices. Service is always friendly.

Unfortunately it seems they closed Suze was very nice and great south west style of food. Chicken strips were actually real white meat hand breaded not frozen. Good spices and great breakfast. Probably just hard to compete with the chain restaurants that moved in next door.

Stopped here for lunch. After two days on 90 West and countless diners and gas stations this was a welcomed change! Excellent, friendly service and delicious, fresh, no frills food.

Susie's never disappoints. Always good food, large portions, good price. Service is always fast and friendly. I tried their Veggie Skillet this a.m., spicy and delicious. Beloved had Susie's Favorite Omelette, he was very pleased. A plus for many, Susie's has gluten free bread options! Susie's is no place flashy or fancy but sure serves up consistently good food. And, yes, there is Wi-Fi. :)

We stopped in when a nearby chain was not open for lunch. WOW. What a pleasant surprise. We ordered hamburger, taco salad, chicken strips, southwest combo (awesome chillis relleno). All food was truly homemade and very reasonably priced. Our kids and we all randomly commented on how good our food tasted. I could go on, but trust me... don't pass this by!!

Had breakfast here once. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which is a particular favorite of mine: I've eaten it at most places where it's offered. While it wasn't terrible, it definitely wasn't that great either. It was essentially just a steak with some bland breading on it. The steak wasn't even tenderized, it had the texture of something you'd get from Sizzler, cooked well-done. Not a good mouth-feel for a chicken fried steak. The gravy wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable either. All in all, it was an okay breakfast, but not something I'm necessarily eager to repeat.

I believe that Suzis has closed their doors. Been by a couple of times in the past two weeks and they have been shuttered. I hope they are not out of business. One of the best breakfast joints in town.

This place is a little sketchy from the outside but don't let that scare you away. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.

I work in San Francisco, CA. I am no stranger to fine dining, and extremely creative/amazing foods. Honestly, when I visited with family in Coeur d'Alene, and they wanted to go to a place called "Susie's Home Kitchen" ...I braced myself for what I thought was likely to come. To my surprise, and delight... the experience was not only good - it was fantastic! Service was friendly, helpful, attentive, and non-obtrusive. All this, despite the fact that nearly all of the tables were full. I ordered "Stuffed Cabbage Soup" after the server offered me a free sample to taste. It was far better than I had imagined any food could possibly be at such an establishment. I have had soups of this caliber at Luce in SF - obviously prepared by a true chef. The vegetables were obviously fresh when they were put in the soup, as many were still delightfully crunchy. **Note - I am usually not a soup person. Even at Michelin-star establishments in SF, I rarely order soup. I was blown away!** For dessert, I had what the chef calls, "Chop Suey Cake." I was also given a small, free sample to try, as I had never had it before. It was delectable - a spice cake with walnuts and I don't know what else (but HOLY GAWD, it was GOOD!!) in it... with a world-class cream cheese frosting on top. Now, for price... my meal cost around $8.50 including tip - for a bowl of absudly amazing soup, and a heavenly slice of cake. To get the same level of quality in San Francisco, I would certainly pay near triple this price including tip. If you are in the Coeur d'Alene area, don't bother stopping at a chain restaurant. You can eat their food anywhere, and it's no-where near as good as Susie's. The ambience is as you might expect in a clean, middle-class kitchen and dining room. The food presentation is not fancy. It's just *damn* good food and service at a fantastic price! Highly recommended!! *Edit* Susie's does have WiFi. Perhaps Yelp info is out of date.

Incredibly tasty huevos rancheros, omelet, and hash browns, with a delightfully fluffy pancake and delicious coffee. HUGE portions, friendly service, and a great price!

I always am satisfied with the food but I feel that the customer service was alright & the kitchen staff were unprofessional. Joking or not joking I shouldn't have been able to hear them yelling at each other.

So I'm stingy with stars but the breakfast is worth it. We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat but it's worth it again. Everything is house made and it tastes like it. No frozen, just comfort good. Only does breakfast on Sunday but again it's worth it.

I have eaten here about 15 times and the food has always been great! This is surely one of the best breakfasts in town. Always fresh and great portions. The chicken fry (always fresh, never frozen) is 5 star! It's available with either gravy or (better yet) green chili sauce. All the skillets are great. Another thing that impresses me is that the toast is always buttered edge to edge! The only negative is that if you go in on a busy weekend you might not get checked out when you are ready.

From the chicken tenders (not greasy, breaded to order) to the mac'n cheese(creamy), to the apple crisp (ooh, and the pecan pie) this place is amazing. Great service, and ridiculously fantastic food. Quality ingredients and well-balanced, this place makes we wish we lived closer. A gem of a find.

I went in because they had posted on their sign outside to try their homemade veggies burgers. I am glad i did! I was skeptical when I saw these big plates of homey meaty goodness coming from the kitchen, but my burger was delicious! Probably the best ive had at a restaurant. Most pass off a garden burger to aaccommodate the vegetarian, but this homemade burger had excellent flavor and my burger fries combo was just what i needed. The other food looked good too. Big portions though so be hungry. The only downside was the wait. Food took a while to get to you..next time i will order an appetizer to bridge the gap

Went here for an early morning breakfast as a place we had never tried before. Food was very typical type of breakfast that you find at any Denny's. The plain, bland, greasy kind that reminds me of college Sat mornings. No culinary taste experiences here just lots of caloric intake.

Excellent Santa Fe Salad, Great tasty food. Only complaint was it took 45min to get our food and it wasn't busy.

Seriously, skip all the touristy places by the lake. This place is amazing. Fresh, made to order. Seems like a hometown diner, but definitely not a greasy spoon. Best salad I've had in awhile. The owner took a basic chef salad and elevated it with fresh mixed greens, fresh chicken. No iceberg and packaged stuff here. I'm not a desert person but the board with home made stuff looked too good to resist. Got the cheese cake with mixed berries on top. It was hands down the best cheesecake I've ever tasted. Worth every single calorie and the extra time on the treadmill. This place is simple and sweet with sincere wonderful service. Dont miss it!!!!

Great breakfast!!! That's all I have had there so can only review on that. Their service is a little slow, I think because they have few servers trying to manage the whole restaurant and causes chaos. Always busy, which is good, but results in bad customer service as they are rushing you. Biscuits and gravy are delicious!!

We have been traveling for 4 days with two little boys, and this was absolutely the best meal we have had! Everything was wonderful. There was no kids menu, but they will make anything in a child's portion. We enjoyed a half order of nachos, chili rellanos, and the special roast beef, The boys had a burger and chicken strips. Not to be confused with chicken nuggets. These were hand breaded with panko crumbs and they were wonderful. Hand cut fries, real mashed potatoes, and all in al a wonderful dinner. You should go.

The menu is very large, which usually makes me skeptical of a restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and speed of service. I got a french dip sandwich, which was delicious. The prices are not the cheapest around, but it's not that expensive either, and I think you get good value for the price.

When we pulled up not too impressed... however when we got inside we were greeted with smiles, & seated right away. With 60 seconds we had a menu. We were served in a very timely manner, and the food was very good. The pasta salad was yummy and so was my sandwich...nice portions of both. Hubbys meatloaf n potatoes very good as well...nice portion there too. We were able to get right back on the road. Would definitely stop there again while traveling.

The food was good I had the meatloaf burger and it was delicious. My brother had chili rellanos and he really enjoyed them they were too hot but there's still spicy enough for him.

Doesn't matter whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner ... The food it awesome! Have never been disappointed with our meals. I think my favorite ... wait, I don't know, there's too many. Like the chicken lunch on Fridays, the stuffed spinach ravioli, the Santa Fe wraps. The staff is also very knowledgeable and super helpful! Always a smile and friendly service.

Great breakfast, had the kitchen sink omelette, has bacon, ham, sausage, mushrooms, peppers topped with Cheddar cheese, very tasty. Very welcoming atmosphere, good coffee, and great food. We will definitely be back.

We wanted to eat local, since we are from out of town, and Susie's looked very local. I ordered the baby back ribs and the wife had the chicken Parmesan. Size was VERY generous and the quality was far far above what we were expecting. This little diner is a great spot if you're hungry for some really good food.

The other reviews are not joking! We ordered a single "Fiesta Dip" as an appetizer for 5.99, and not only was it amazing, but there was nearly enough of the homemade chips and dip to fill up everyone at the table! To complete the meal we ordered some Quesidillas (again from the appetizer menu), and a BLT. One of the three people in our group ate the BLT, and the other two shared the Quesidillas. An amazing meal complete with plenty of leftovers (and a complimentary mint nanaimo bar one bite dessert thing for each person at the table) for a grand total of 30 dollars! It's a shame we don't live here...

CLOSED! Drove by today 7-17-15, and the place is empty and the sign is gone. Too bad. This location that Susie's occupies was formerly a dismal Mexican restaurant, which is probably why it took us so long to try it. First, I was underwhelmed by the entry area and the décor of the entire place. Not too many design changes have been made from the previous restaurant. If you can get over the interior and décor, not dirty just weird, then the food is worth the wait. We both had burgers which were huge, and on fresh and incredible buns. As we were sitting several folks next to us were finishing their daily special, which was an open faced meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf sandwich looked incredible and huge! Other patrons came in after us requesting the meatloaf but they had run out. These folks were literally near tears, all obviously locals that knew this day was Meatloaf Day! The food was good, the prices were very reasonable, the décor is weird. We will go back for dinner. The menu is huge and folks sitting near us told us everything on the menu is good. See you soon Susie's!
